I spent some time today surfing the FBI's Most Wanted site. This is an old pastime of mine; I used to read the paper wanted notices at the Post Office. Some of the things I read today made me curious, particularly the matter of how one can survive on the run for any length of time. One fugitive has been out there for so long that his listed occupation is Keypunch Operator.
What has me so puzzled that I am soliciting an explanation is in the description of this particular alleged badguy. How exactly is it "indicative of his extreme religious beliefs [that] he has been seen wearing fringe on his shirt cuffs and pants bottoms?"

See also here. The fringe bit comes from Old Testament, Numbers 15:37-41, if you want to look it up.
Thank ye, thank ye kindly. I asked the wee wifey, the Christian in the house (we are proudly unequally harnessed) and she had not heard of this, altho she can cite the verse on which snake-handling is based.
